Using the Message Center
Communicate with your audience through in-app notifications, email, and SMS
The Message Center is your communication hub for reaching attendees and customers. Send announcements, updates, and promotional messages through multiple channels including in-app notifications, email, and SMS.
Event curators can message their event attendees, and product vendors can message their customers. Collaborators with "Send Messages" permission can also use the Message Center on behalf of the owner.
Accessing the Message Center
- Open the Streets App
- Go to Settings
- Tap Message Center
The Message Center has three main tabs: Send, Scheduled, and History.

Composing a Message
The Send tab is where you compose new messages to your audience:
Message Content
- Subject - The title of your message (used for email subject lines)
- Message - The body content of your message
- Attachment (optional) - Add images, videos, or files to your message
Featured Content
You can attach a featured event or product to your message. This creates a rich preview that recipients can tap to view directly:
- Feature an Event - Include one of your events with an image preview and link
- Feature a Product - Include one of your products with pricing and link

Selecting Your Audience
Choose who receives your message from four audience types:
Audience Types
- Favorites - Users who have favorited your profile receive an in-app notification. This is free and instant.
- App Users - All app users who have purchased from you receive an in-app notification. This is free.
- Email - Send an email to users who have provided their email address. Uses email credits.
- Phone/SMS - Send a text message to users who have provided their phone number. Uses SMS credits.
Email and SMS messages require credits. You can purchase credit packs within the Message Center. The number of credits needed is shown before sending based on your selected audience size.
Filtering by Lists
If you've organized your contacts into lists, you can filter your audience to only include users on specific lists. This is useful for targeted messaging to specific groups like VIP customers or event-specific attendees.
Managing Individual Recipients
Tap on any audience type to view and manage individual recipients. You can:
- View all contacts in that audience
- Search for specific contacts
- Toggle individual contacts on or off
- See contact details like email addresses and phone numbers

Scheduling Messages
Instead of sending immediately, you can schedule messages to go out at a specific date and time:
- Compose your message as usual
- Toggle on Schedule for Later
- Select the date and time for delivery
- Tap Schedule to confirm
Scheduled messages appear in the Scheduled tab where you can view, edit, or cancel them before they're sent.
Schedule messages for optimal times when your audience is most likely to engage. For events, consider sending reminders 24 hours and 1 hour before the start time.

Message History
The History tab shows all previously sent messages with delivery status:
- Sent Messages - View the content and date of all sent messages
- Delivery Status - See how many recipients received each message
- Failed Deliveries - View any delivery failures (e.g., invalid phone numbers)
Tap on any message to see detailed delivery statistics and, for SMS, view any undeliverable phone numbers.
SMS Credits
Sending SMS messages requires credits. The SMS credits balance and purchase options are shown in the Message Center:
- Your current credit balance is displayed at the top of the send screen
- The number of credits needed for your selected audience is shown before sending
- Tap the credits display to purchase additional credit packs
One SMS credit is typically used per message segment per recipient. Longer messages may use multiple segments. International messages may have different rates.
Collaborator Access
If you've granted a collaborator the "Send Messages" permission, they can access the Message Center on your behalf. This is useful for:
- Delegating communication tasks to team members
- Allowing event staff to send urgent updates
- Having multiple people manage customer communications
Collaborators messaging on your behalf will send messages from your account, appearing to recipients as coming from you.
Learn more about collaborator permissions in our Managing Collaborators guide.
