How to Use Coat Check
Learn how to check your coat, request pickup, and retrieve your belongings at Streets events
Some events on Streets offer digital coat check service, making it easy to securely store your belongings and retrieve them when you're ready to leave. This guide will show you how to use coat check from your ticket.
Digital coat check lets you bind your coat to your ticket digitally. When you're ready to leave, simply request your coat from the app and get notified when it's ready for pickup - no paper tickets needed!
Before the Event
If an event offers coat check, you'll see a Coat Check section on your ticket once the event begins. Before the event starts, you may see a preview indicating that coat check will be available.
Coat check features only become active once the event has started and you're at the venue.
Checking Your Coat
When you arrive at the event and want to check your coat, follow these steps:
Option 1: Staff Creates Your Claim
The most common method - staff will bind your coat to your ticket:
- Hand your coat to the coat check staff
- Show them your ticket QR code in the Streets app
- Staff will scan your ticket and assign a claim number to your coat
- Your ticket will automatically update to show your coat check claim

Option 2: Request Bind from Your Ticket
Some events allow you to initiate the bind request from your app:
- Open your ticket in the Streets app
- Scroll to the Coat Check section
- Tap Request Bind
- Your phone's location will be verified (you must be at the venue)
- A bind request will be sent to staff
- Wait for staff to accept your request and take your coat
You must be at the venue to use coat check. The app will verify your location to ensure you're within the event area.
Requesting Your Coat Back
When you're ready to leave, you can request your coat directly from your ticket:
- Open your ticket in the Streets app
- Go to the Coat Check section
- Tap Request Coat
- Your location will be verified (you must be at the venue)
- You'll be added to the pickup queue

Request your coat a few minutes before you're ready to leave. This gives staff time to retrieve it, so it's ready when you get to the coat check area.
Tracking Your Coat Status
After requesting pickup, you can track the status of your coat in real-time:
Status Meanings
- Checked In - Your coat is safely stored and bound to your ticket
- Pickup Requested - You've requested your coat and are in the queue
- Ready for Pickup - Your coat is ready! Head to the coat check area
- Picked Up - You've received your coat

Getting Notified
Enable push notifications to get alerted when your coat is ready:
- When you first use coat check, you may see a prompt to enable notifications
- Tap Enable Notifications to receive alerts
- You'll receive a push notification when your coat status changes to "Ready"
Make sure notifications are enabled for the Streets app in your phone's settings to receive coat ready alerts.
Picking Up Your Coat
Once you receive the "Ready for Pickup" notification:
- Head to the coat check area
- Show your ticket to the staff (they'll see your claim number)
- Staff will verify your identity and hand you your coat
- Your ticket will update to show "Picked Up"
Canceling a Pickup Request
Changed your mind? You can cancel a pending pickup request:
- Open your ticket and go to the Coat Check section
- Tap Cancel Request
- Your coat will remain safely stored
- You can request pickup again whenever you're ready
Multiple Coats
If you have multiple tickets (e.g., you bought tickets for friends), each ticket can have its own coat check claim. Each person in your group should use their own ticket to check and retrieve their coat.
Troubleshooting
"Location required" error
If you see a location error:
- Make sure location services are enabled for the Streets app
- Ensure you're physically at the venue
- Try moving closer to the main event area
- Check that your phone has GPS signal
"Queue is full" message
During busy times, there may be a limit on pickup requests. If you see this message:
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- The queue limit ensures manageable wait times for everyone
Didn't receive notification
If you didn't get a "Ready" notification:
- Check your ticket directly - the status updates in real-time
- Ensure push notifications are enabled in your phone settings
- Visit the coat check area and show your claim number to staff
